COSMIC GATE are the internationally acclaimed German trance DJs/producers also known as NIC and BOSSI. Following the release of their full-length studio album, WAKE YOUR MIND (Black Hole), the duo return Stateside on their massive supporting tour.
The first single from WAKE YOUR MIND was the hit song, “Be Your Sound” featuring Emma Hewitt. The second single from the album has just been released: “Sometimes They Come Back For More” featuring Arnej. Cosmic Gate return in 2012 to Glow at Fur Nightclub along with Emma Hewitt for a live show not to be missed!
1. What’s it like working and performing with her Emma Hewitt, featured on your first single, “Be Your Sound”?
COSMIC GATE: Emma Hewitt for us, ever since we did “Not Enough Time” with her, is kind of part of our family. She is simply amazing and showed her huge talent again on our current Wake Your Mind album, delivering two of the hottest tunes on there, “Be Your Sound” and “Calm Down.” On top of this, she is a great person to hang out with and a fantastic performer onstage! We are looking forward to playing with her for the first time in DC at Glow on January 28th.
2. What was your biggest challenge as Cosmic Gate in 2011? What are you doing in 2012 to conquer that challenge?
COSMIC GATE: The biggest challenge in 2011 sure was to finish our album with all the touring we did. Twenty-twelve will be pretty much the same, besides all the worldwide gigs, a lot of remixes and new ideas have to be finished, so we are looking forward to another fantastic year to come with new music and new crowds to play for.
3. At this moment, what are some of your immediate career goals?
COSMIC GATE: This is hard to say. We take it as it comes. The most important thing is to stay healthy. For the rest, we work hard and enjoy what we do! Of course, we’re hoping our career goes up as it constantly did during the last years already.

4. Where do you see electronic dance music by the end of 2012? In five years?
COSMIC GATE: During the last two years, EDM made a huge step especially in the U.S. By the end of 2012, we are sure that it will run over R&B and hip-hop even more than it has already! [laughs]
Listening to U.S. radio is so different now comparing to two years before. It’s incredible! In five years we will see how it goes. Hopefully the scene will stay healthy and not too many people get in for the wrong reasons, because music should always come first and the business only after.
5. What are you doing in the studio to distinguish your music from other artists?
COSMIC GATE: We do what we did since the beginning: create music we like, not follow trends, try to set new standards and always evolve from the production before! We produce music that touches us, however the result in the end will sound.
6. What are the top three tracks you’re spinning right now at shows?
COSMIC GATE: On most shows sure it’s tracks from Wake Your Mind, the already mentioned “Be Your Sound,” or our newest single, “Sometimes They Come Back For More” ft Arnej. Or surely “Flying Blind” ft JES, which will be released with new remixes in the spring as a single as well.
7. What’s the best thing about touring? Worst thing?
COSMIC GATE: Seeing and meeting lots of interesting cities and people are one of the best things. Learning about different cultures is surely the positive part. On the negative side, the jet-lag has to be mentioned. Permanent traveling sure is pretty exhausting, but it’s just a little price we are willing to pay for all the love we get back.
8. What’s the craziest thing a fan has done to get your attention?
COSMIC GATE: Crazy things include traveling 20 hours to see a gig of ours, or a tattoo of our logo, just to mention a few! [laughs] There is so much love we get from our fans. They are always giving us power and energy to do what we do! We love them for it.
