Dubstep Icon Touching Down in DC with Mothership
American dubstep godfather 12th Planet is currently on a whirlwind tour around North America. Between September 22 and December 17, he is scheduled for a ridiculous 53 tour dates! He will be performing at Glow along with Skrillex, Foreign Beggars, and Nadastrom on October 6 for their sold-out Mothership Tour stop.
Oh… and did we mention he is really excited about playing in DC?!?
Birth of a Planet
Starting out as a drum-n-bass producer under the moniker Infiltrata, Los Angeles native John Dadzie switched up his sound around 2005 and 12th Planet was born. Inspired by the underground sounds of London-based artists like DMZ, Skream, and Benga, dubstep was just taking off as 12th Planet launched into orbit.
Intergalactic, High Energy, Bass Sexual
Eight timezones behind the London, the dubstep capital of the world, 12th Planet lost no time diving into dubstep’s wobble-and-bass-driven scene. Conquering the Los Angeles dance scene, he has since toured globally and played at many top music festivals, including Coachella, SXSW, Together As One, Ultra Music Festival and Electric Zoo.
Last year saw the premiere of his music video for “Reasons” on MTV and the release of his remix of Little Jinder’s “Youth Blood” on the Mad Decent ‘Blow Your Head’ dubstep compilation. He has churned out 12 EPs over his career and has two highly anticipated EPs expected to drop before 2012.
Like the “ancient astronauts” from which he borrows his name, 12th Planet is an American dubstep phenomenon that’s out of this world!
