ALBUM REVIEW: Defected in the House, Ibiza ’10

Are you ready for defection to Ibiza? “Defected In The House: Ibiza ‘10,” the newest mix from Defected Records will keep you moving through the hot, sweaty dog days of summer.

Known for being at the forefront of house music, Defected’s Ibiza series consistently provides a benchmark and early look at club bombs that will ravage the island of Ibiza. Defected has already provided us with Dennis Ferrer’s runaway Miami success ‘Hey Hey,’ and this album continues the fist pumping, floor stomping action.

Defected Ibiza ’10 is soaked in classic house riffs and vocals that stylistically reinvent its soulfulness. Underneath is a familiar groove reminiscent of the early 90’s South Beach and SoHo undergrounds, illustrated by Burning (Fanatix Powerhouse edit) by Mk and Tensnake’s ‘Coma Cat.’ (video below) Juxtaposed with this homage to house music’s former greatness is ‘At Night’ by Ridney (video below), a smooth progressive track that seamlessly moves from note to note, revamping the over-all chic and fashionable sound indicative of the Defective brand.

This 2xCD not only includes 23 new tracks, but also two DJ mixes by Defected Records founder Simon Dunmore. With tunes like the impressive Shorebreak (Magic Island Club Mix) by Daddy Groove and Little Mark, “Defected In the House” is the perfect soundtrack for a relaxing day at the beach/pool or a seductive evening on a crowded dance floor.
