Grammy-Award winning, and perennial DJ Mag Top 5 DJ David Guetta premiered is launching his new “Mixr” line of DJ-friendly headphones under prominent electronics company Beats by Dre. Beats by Dre was founded by rapper Dr. Dre, and Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman Jimmy Iovine back in 2008. Guetta joins the likes of P. Diddy, Bono, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Lebron James all of whom have designed their own lines of headphones for Beats byDre. The official press conference was held in the Soho House Berlin, and followed by an official after party at the luxurious Spindler and Klatt nightclub, where Guetta played his first set to 1,500 fans with his new headphones.
Guetta’s “Mixr” line debuted in Berlin on Monday, September 6th and will be available in The United Kingdom, Germany and France in October with a suggested retail price of £249.95, the equivalent of about $400. With its studio quality sound, comapact form factor and ear cups that can swivel 180 degrees for portability and live mixing, the headphones are built to the durability standards of world-class DJs such as Guetta himself. Says Guetta in the official statement:
“The process was completely collaborative… Our vision was to create the perfect world-class headphone for DJs and music lovers alike and the outcome is truly amazing! I use headphones every day in the studio and every night at gigs, so I know how important the difference in quality is and want to share that. The sound is better than anything I’ve experienced before because it doesn’t distort no matter what volume I am playing music at. They’re easy to travel with because they’re so light and compact. I can’t wait to start using them when I’m DJing, creating music or just when I’m listening to music on the move.”

The news comes as Guetta is still making headlines with his fifth artist album, double-disc Nothing But The Beat, released August 26 on Virgin Records. With singles “Where Them Girls At,” Little Bad Girl,” and the newest, “Without You” featuring Usher premiering on U.S. radio next week, this album is destined to be one of the biggest of the year. With his name on some of the biggest hits, and one of the hottest new lines of headphones, Guetta is a lock-in for top 5 on DJ Mag’s 2011 rankings!
